Dr. Valas was born in Madrid. She moved to the United Kingdom at the age of eleven and to the United States at seventeen.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts at Manhattanville College in New York. She then completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in Grafton, Massachusetts.

Clinical training
